Accessible Digital Design & Audits for Small Businesses and Founders
I help small businesses and founders make their websites, apps, and digital content accessible to everyone through practical accessibility audits and inclusive design support.
Whether you're improving your existing website or building something new, accessibility helps remove barriers and create better experiences for all users.
Not sure whether your business is digitally accessible?
You don’t need to know the answers. I can test the parts of your website that matter most to your customers and explain what I find in plain English.
You are redesigning your site and want accessibility considered before launch.
Are you confident your web developer has tested these things?
Important information is locked in a PDF that some customers cannot read.
Does the page still work when text is enlarged?
Why ?

Accessible design ensures your services can be used by more people while improving usability for everyone.
53.1% had images with missing alternative text detected.
Helping a small business understand its website barriers
I reviewed Productive Edge VA’s website and identified barriers involving image descriptions, colour contrast, keyboard focus and link wording. The business received a one-page overview with six practical improvements to prioritise.
Preliminary review completed October 2025. The findings do not confirm whether changes have since been made.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most private businesses are not automatically required to meet WCAG 2.2 AA in the same way as public sector websites. However, businesses providing services must consider reasonable adjustments for disabled customers. WCAG 2.2 AA gives you a useful standard to work towards. If a client or contract sets specific accessibility requirements, I can help you understand what they mean for your project.
-
I can review the pages and tasks your customers rely on most, such as finding a service, completing an enquiry form or making a booking. Depending on the review, I can check keyboard access, screen-reader use, text enlargement, colour contrast, images, links and form instructions. I can also review documents and other digital content used by your business.
-
Both options are possible. I’ll explain what needs to change and can work with your designer or developer to help them put the recommendations into practice. If you need design or document improvements from me, we can agree that work separately.
-
A Snapshot is a focused starting point. It looks at an agreed part of your website or digital content and gives you the main issues and practical next steps. A full audit tests a wider agreed scope in more detail, records findings against relevant WCAG criteria and provides a prioritised plan for fixing them. A Snapshot is not a statement that your whole website meets WCAG 2.2 AA.
-
I’ll need a short brief about your business, the website or content you want reviewed, and any customer tasks you are concerned about. I carry out the review and provide the findings. You can then choose whether you’d like a walkthrough to discuss the next steps.
